Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching 4th grade. I'm very excited to get to work with my amazing class this year. I want to give them as many opportunities to encourage and increase their learning as possible. My school has a diverse group of students and a large ESOL population. They are hard-working and eager to learn new things.
I want to encourage my students to have a love for reading.
Reading is a key skill to have and I want my students to have a variety of books to read. I'm working on building our class library to have a range of genres in English and Spanish for them to read. I can't wait to watch them become avid readers this year!
My Project
These new books will complete the new class sets of reading group books that I am working on acquiring for my students. These updated books will spark students' interests and allow them to read a variety of genres. My students have a range of reading interests so I'm trying to get newer books to engage them in reading. My students also have a wide range of reading levels so I'm trying to get books on the levels of all my students.
The students would use the books daily for reading groups to work on their reading comprehension, literacy, and love for reading.
My students love books and I want them to continue to like reading and these new books would greatly help. We are working hard to increase all students reading comprehension so having books for each student in the reading groups would be a huge benefit to them.
