My 4th graders have been exploring the impact that math has across all professions and why each concept that we study is important in the world.\r\n We have used multiplication and division to plan parties for people. We have used area and perimeter to help a family build a house, paint their walls and plant a garden. We have engaged our brains to relate division to fractions which help us share with those that we care about.\r\n Showing the students that there is a purpose in their learning has improved engagement and allowed for greater success in talking about and applying their math. I teach math to 76 4th graders and while I incorporate as much movement as I can, sometimes, it is not enough.\r\n These additional feet that can be added to the chairs allow each chair to safely rock. Students are going to rock, but this puts some added safety to it. Funding this project allowed for ten chairs to have this additional benefit. Not all students want this, but those that do, LOVE it as an option. I love that it's an option and it's a safe one.\r\n I know that in this economy you have to choose carefully how to spend your money. From the bottom of my heart (and these fourth graders who have earned their place in my heart), thank you for investing and believing that you can help impact change.","fullyFundedDate":1752614893906,"projectUrl":"project/we-can-wiggle-and-wobble-but-we-wont-fa/9457805/","projectTitle":"We Can Wiggle and Wobble but We Won’t Fall Down!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Richardson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10076433_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753307332798","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10076433"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39784","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":481,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":87,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.2,"schoolId":39784,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Loch Lomond Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Loch Lomond Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/prince-william-county-public-schools/loch-lomond-elementary-school/39784"}
