English Language Learners typically have very different experiences than native English speakers, which can make new vocabulary challenging. Often they are hesitant to read new text, because it can be unrelatable to them. I would love to use print versions of Time for Kids to support their English acquisition in the classroom and help further their vocabulary. Most importantly, they will read about new people and places, making literature FUN to read and explore. We will have so many new conversations based on our reading journey together this year! Thank you for considering this project for my sweet elementary students!
