Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in 3 different grade levels. I'm working closely with kindergarten, first, and second grade. I am lucky to be working with some of the sweetest, most eager students I've ever met! They are excited to come to my "reading nook" and try their very best!

My students are all working hard but are in desperate need of materials and learning tools.

I want to provide my groups with fun hands-on materials that will help them learn their sounds, become better spellers, and strong readers! With Covid back on the rise, I have to be very careful about sharing materials so I'm hoping to give each student a personal set of materials to use with me.

My Project

I am a literacy teacher at a low-income school where most of the students are struggling with reading and phonics. I work with small groups at a time and for safety reasons, we cannot share materials any longer. I want to give my students a fresh start for the new semester and provide them all the materials and manipulatives they need to succeed in learning to read. This project will give them individual materials, pencil pouches, we will play sight word Bingo, I'll be able to give them all an individual magnetic white boards, markers, and a pencil pouch.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
