This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
6th-grade students are considered upper-level students in our school. They are the trendsetters. Our school is a Title I school, where all the students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch. I currently have 20 students on my 6th-grade class roster. My students come from homes where a lot of competing activities are occurring.
Our students need extensive help with reading and math due to learning gaps.
Having the ability to provide them with their copies of guided reading and math materials will help. Students will not have to share materials, and they will still be able to learn and grow their reading and math skills. The colored paper will help keep students organized and prioritize different assignments.
Guided reading activities will cover running records, phonics/grammar skills, reading, and comprehension. Guided math activities will cover operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations, measurement and data, and geometry.
