This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are an eager, energetic, and fun group of bilingual Spanish students.

We are a Title I school based in Oakland, California, and looking for some funding to add more Spanish books and SEL books to our library, as well as popular series books in English.

My students love to read and have read through many of the books in my classroom. We also love to express ourselves through art, especially related to our learnings in science, language arts, and social-emotional learning. It helps bring joy to our class and allows us to express our learning in another way. It can be difficult to do art projects when materials are expensive and we need class sets. Lastly, I have several students who would benefit from some more durable flex seating for our space. It helps them focus during reading time and work more productively knowing they can move their bodies as they need to.
