My Students
I am a first year teacher at a Title I school in Middle Tennessee. I teach second grade and it is the best job in the entire world! My students consist of a very diverse group both culturally, economically, and academically. Regardless of their background, each one of my students comes to school every day determined, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. As their teacher it is my job to foster this love for learning that all of my students possess.
My Project
My students need books that are engaging and inspiring. I chose books that would be relevant to the students in my classroom. I need to provide my students with books that spotlight strong female characters, as well as characters from different cultures. These types of characters are a reflection of my students. I want to provide titles that will allow my students to read about children whose lives are not unlike their own so that they may understand the world around them a little better.
If you chose to support my project then I will get one step closer to putting some fantastic books at their little fingertips.
