My students need to have access to multiple resources to utilize during English Language Arts. These resources will aide them to become critical thinkers by developing their decoding/fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
My students come from a culturally rich and economically diverse community. However, many live in poverty which has an effect on their academic achievement. My hope is that my efforts can help close the achievement gap for my students. All staff members at our school are committed to helping all children achieve high academic standards. Continuous support is provided for students who demonstrate difficulty meeting those standards.
We foster a growth mindset in each and every child and celebrate the learning process and individual student progress toward specific learning goals.
Our students demonstrate effort and attitude to take advantage of a wide variety of learning opportunities. We are proud of the accomplishments that are made by our students.
My Project
These reading resources will help me to reinforce the strategies utilized to teach my students text comprehension and help them to continue to improve their comprehension. Majority of these resources will help to keep students engaged in high interest texts from a wide variety of genres and reinforce academic vocabulary they'll need for school success.These materials can also hook the students that are continuing to struggle as readers; students will be able to and want to read the materials. Utilizing resources that focus on comprehension and intervention strategies can increase both the quantity and the quality of my students' reading levels. Research states that to become a better reader, students have to read more to acquire more vocabulary.
I want my students to be able to monitor their comprehension more efficiently and be able to determine what it is they do and do not understand and use appropriate strategies to resolve the problems they are having in comprehension.
I would like for my students to have more success with learning so that more learning can be generated.
