This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Teachers who love teaching, teach children who love learning." As I enter my 20th year of teaching, I continue to follow this mantra in my classroom. I teach 28 wonderful students who come from poverty. My students are from varying ethnic backgrounds. Most of them come from homes that are struggling financially.

My students are extremely motivated, and they are genuinely respectful to each other.

They are lovers of learning, and I am truly grateful to be their teacher this year. They come to school with smiles on their faces, and they are eager to learn. We need materials to use in our literacy centers.

My Project

My students are lovers of learning, and I am truly grateful to be their teacher this year. They come to school with smiles on their faces, and they are eager to learn. Many of my students are struggling readers. We need leveled reading books to use in our literacy centers.

"The more that you read, the more you will know." My students' favorite center is the Read to Self station.

They go to this station to read books to themselves. My students are at various reading levels. These books will allow my students to read a book at their reading level. These books will boost confidence and motivation in my students, especially my struggling readers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
