This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class community is one that can be described as eclectic and energetic. Each child is different and brings to our class a bit of their spirit and tenacity to learn. Our learners have shown us that while they are determined to grow this year, they require more books to do so, to their best ability.

The fire and desire to learn has long been burning in our class, however the small library we have limits our students' choice when they pick their weekly books. When students are offered multiple genres and levels of books, it allows them the freedom to learn and grow. Their interest and desire to read then increases and their learning increases as well.

My Project

This is the first year I will be teaching 5th graders, and even though I have yet to meet my students there is something I already know about all of them. They have the desire to read! To help foster this important skill, past time and hobby, I am in need of books to fill my library. Reading is one the most essential things we learn as we go through school. Reading opens our eyes and our minds to what's going on around us.

Books are the key to exploring outside of the classroom.

My students are interested about the world around them and use books as a way to learn about it. These books will allow them to climb mountains, explore new places and learn about dragons and friendships.
