My Project

Years ago, I had a huge classroom with a big rug and several couches. Read-aloud time was an event. When my room was moved, I had to let go of the rug and just held onto one couch. Several English teachers had couches in their rooms. Once we were closed for Covid, all of our couches were thrown away. I think a meeting area rug would be nice for the kids who would enjoy sitting on the floor, elementary-school style, from time to time for read-alouds. It could also be used during independent reading time or for small group meetings. I would keep it clean. And it’s reading themed, which is fun. To celebrate the return of Abbott Elementary, The DonorsChoose Community will be matching donations to projects with a special promo code. I don’t know if you’ve seen Abbott Elementary but it’s worth watching, especially if you’re a teacher, to laugh instead of cry at all the struggles of working in public schools.
