My Project

My students are part of the diverse island community of Maui. That diversity is represented within my classroom, as all of my students bring different experiences and perspectives into the classroom that shape our learning journey throughout the school year. My students enjoy learning through the inquiry process and taking on real-world issues and challenges.

Scholastic magazines provide interesting and engaging content throughout the school year.

Scholastic News provides a monthly issue with nonfiction articles on current events and topics of interest to my students. Students complete activities and participate in conversations that address the reading standards for informational text such as drawing inferences and providing text evidence.

Science Spin also supports reading and language use, but also integrates valuable science content into reading lessons. As a supplement to our curriculum, this resource will provide students a new way to practice problem solving and engage in conversations to share their thinking while exploring science concepts.
