My Students
My school is an Expeditionary Learning community for grades 6-8. Our hands-on curriculum inspires high achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork. We are a diverse community of engaged, motivated learners — students and adults alike. Students take ownership of their learning, guided by creative, passionate adults who navigate the balancing act of challenge and support. The community values independence and individuality while practicing collaboration, inclusivity, and acceptance.
My students come from diverse backgrounds: they come from different towns, different socioeconomic levels, and have diverse learning needs.
I want to build my classroom library to increase their exposure to different types of reading materials. I want to help foster a lifelong love of reading in my students.
My Project
My school does not have a school library. As an English teacher, I hope that creating a rich classroom library will help my students become lifelong readers. The books I've selected cover multiple genres, reading, and interest levels. Students will be able to borrow books to read independently at home and in the classroom during accountable reading time.
Students will be able to share what they've read with others, creating a classroom community where students are excited to talk about books.
I'm excited for my students to have a large variety of books available at their fingertips to help promote more reading. One of my goals it to inspire my students to read more, and having these books available will help me reach that goal.
