My Project

Have you ever felt left out? Were you ever a student in an under-supported classroom while neighboring rooms seemed to have all the fun things? At our Title 1 school, my grade level is home to 96 inquisitive students who have experienced significant teacher turn over in the last two years. As teachers leave, students are left with bare classrooms and few options for bad weather days.

Can you help bring indoor recess equity to all four classrooms?

At a time when teachers are leaving the industry in droves, this can mean that a classroom goes from well stocked to empty over the course of a weekend. This is exactly what happened to my partner classroom during Winter Break when the teacher suddenly resigned. As a veteran educator and the teacher-leader for 5th Grade, it breaks my heart to see a room of frowning faces and grumbling ten year-olds whenever the weather prevents us from going outside. These students need access to puzzles, board games, cards, building blocks, and more.

As the grade level lead, I can both store and share resources easily...provided I have enough to service the four classrooms. With no plans to depart, I can ensure these resources are cared for and utilized for years to come in 5th Grade. You can help me achieve this goal with your donation! Together, we can "puzzle" out a solution to indoor recess equity!
