This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our elementary school is located in Fresno, Texas, and serves students from PreK-5th grade. We are a Title 1 school with students from multicultural/bilingual homes, foster homes, and single-family homes. Our campus is working hard to build strong relationships with our families and members of our community.

As the school librarian, I am working with students, teachers, and families to build a love of reading.

The library is the heart of the school and students love to visit. Over the past few years, I have tried to provide activities, lessons, and school-wide events that interest our students.

My Project

After spending most of last year at home due to the pandemic, our students have not had the opportunity to relax and spend time with friends. What I would like to do is give my students the opportunity to work on puzzles with their friends in the library. I want to give them a chance to just be kids.

I see my students sitting on the floor, working on puzzles, not thinking of the world outside of our school.

I see them playing together and working on their cognitive skills (even if they don't know it). These puzzles will allow each class to work on them together during their library time and not worry about what is happening in our world.
