Putting Books into the Hands of Pre-Kindergarteners

Help me give my students books that they can read during this distance learning time. Our young learners at our school are not connected digitally so we would like to give them books to read with their families.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and languages. I find that my students need exposure to many things as their background knowledge is lacking due to cultural or language barriers. My student population is 85% poverty and 70% of our population is English Language Learners. Our students have emotional and social issues due to language, poverty and cultural barriers. Hearing stories is a way to develop language with my students and make connections with them.

My students enjoy reading and exploring new books.

This purchase would allow students to have books that they can read at this time. Students have not been able to access their books that are in the school.

My Project

Our youngest learners at our school are not able to use technology during this distance learning time so we are trying to reach them through books. Our hope is to give each Pre-K student 3 books that they can use to read with their families.

We choose books that will enhance their learning.

All the Pre-K teachers in our district are trying to get books in the hands of students at this time. We hope at our school we can achieve this goal. We hope we can send books home to children.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
