Help me give my students new golf carts to get around on the course. These are approved for tournament play and most teams have them. This provides a huge advantage for those players that do not have them.
The golf season is long and the boys and girls need new equipment for the up coming season. Some of the equipment is not functioning or not there to begin with at all. Please help keep both the boys and girls programs continue to build in an inner city school.
The size is classified as one of the largest of the state and continues to grow every year.
The population of the school is made up of 86% Hispanic, 16% black, and 6% white. The percentage of students on free or reduced price lunch is 100%. The yearbook students view it as almost a second family. They work well together and support each other through all of the ups and downs that come with living in this community.
Push carts are allowed in all state tournaments. Most teams we compete against have them leaving our boys and girls at a disadvantage having to carry the clubs when they do not. Please consider giving our kids a leg up so we can fairly compete in a very expensive sport that most inner city kids do not even take up until late in school. It teaches them not to give up and keep going even if they are not playing well.
In the future it would be a useful skill to have post school.
