Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bright, eager, hilarious, loving and playful kids, many who have been through a lot in their short lives. This past year I had two students in the CPS system, two tragically loose their fathers, one who came to school each day from an emergency family center, and several whose parents have been incarcerated. Our classroom has become a place where a little family has blossomed. It is a safe and loving place for the children to thrive. I absolutely adore these each of them. Our school is a Title I school so a majority of students come from low socioeconomic conditions. I love the opportunity to give them an excellent foundation for their education.

My Project

One of the most magical parts of childhood is a having a limitless imagination. An ability to pretend and become, to enter new worlds and new experiences all within the four walls of a classroom. I would love to provide a captivating space where the possibilities of pretend play are endless. These items will allow children to do exactly that. Not only does this project provide ample time and opportunity for the growth of essential oral language skills, it also allows students to experience real life situations through pretend play which will further develop their social and emotional learning skills.
