This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Purple & Gold pollinator garden has been a dream/goal for our Environmental Club (WEC) for quite some time. An assortment of gardening tools - shovels, gloves, and watering cans - will be extremely valuable in providing supplies for many students who do not have equipment to bring from home (allowing everyone to participate)!

Partnering with Pollinator Pathway, WEC is working to install a native pollinator garden at the entrance to WHS.

The garden's central location will update our school's curbside appeal, bringing joy and school spirit to all who pass through our doors all while attracting native pollinators that are integral to our local ecosystem!

We plan on making educational signage about these native pollinator species and performing in-field activities with students, something that students have been excited to dive deeper into since the COVID quarantine. The Purple & Gold pollinator garden will certainly unify Westhill and the larger Stamford community, providing an attractive and sustainable avenue for students to explore their environmental curiosity!
