Save the Honeybees! Do you like eating fruit like apples, blueberries, oranges and cherries? How about almonds? Did you know that without the honeybee these foods would not exist? That’s because over 90% of these crops are pollinated by the honeybee! Honeybees are critical to our food supply, yet we are seeing an alarming decrease in the number of honeybees due to loss of habitat, disease and pesticides. Help us change that! With the guidance of club creator and president, Mike Edwards, We are starting Viking Apiaries. This club will teach the students of our school and our larger community about the importance of the honeybee and how they can get involved by becoming beekeepers. We are looking to start our apiary with three hives, which will become home to over 90,000 honeybees. And that is just the beginning! The money raised will go to purchasing the materials for hive construction, purchase of the honeybees, sugar for food, hive tools and bee suits. Thank you for your generous donation and thinking about Viking Apiaries the next time you reach for that bowl of fruit!
