Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are motivated and eager to learn. After not being in a classroom for more than a year, my students are so excited to be in school. They enjoy being read to, and after they have heard books read to them, they enjoy reading them on their own. They have a wonderful knack for connecting personal experiences with the literature they have read. They are learning a second language and developing their vocabulary every day. My end in mind is to develop a love of reading that will take my students on great adventures throughout their lives.

I teach 24, first-grade, second language learners who are living in a low-income community in Los Angeles.

Our school is a Title I-funded school with students from preschool to fifth grade. At our school, we strive to instill the idea in our students that they are thinkers, leaders, and change-makers. We are the first Leader in Me school in our area, and we are very proud to be developing our future leaders, thinkers, and change makers!

My Project

The entire world is faced with this dreadful virus! I want to be proactive and help my students stay safe. As much as we try to constantly sanitize and always wash our hands, we try to be very careful to not contract this virus so these materials will help.

To provide a safety net for their health, my students NEED hand sanitizers, Clorox wipes, Swiffer wet wipes for our mop and covered trash can and trash bags.

My goal is to do as much as I can in my classroom to provide for the Health and Wellness of my students.

I would also like to provide help with mental strategies to help my students cope. I am asking for A Little SPOT of Emotion book sets these books are great for classroom discussions and writing.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
