Help me give my students a quality virtual learning experience by getting a GoPro and other items including tape measures, hex keys, power bits, and more, so I can livestream demonstrations in the shop.
My students have a strong drive and desire to learn the woodworking and construction trades. Many of my students stay after school to work on projects, or to help me around the shop. They are always open to trying new things, and love to give ideas of things we could do to continue to grow and improve the program- be it equipment we could repair, or projects we could do for the community.
My students can see the type of program we are trying to build to promote the woodworking and construction trades, and they want to be a part of it.
I am constantly blown away by the enthusiasm my students have for the program, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing the younger generations displaying a passion for the trades that I have had for most of my life.
My Project
Many of the materials I am asking for will help to replace outdated and worn out items in the shop. This will allow students to work with the best quality materials possible. Additionally, the bundle of tape measures would help students all get consistent and accurate measurements on their projects vs. what we currently have, which is a mix of multiple different brands that don’t all give the exact same measurements.
An item that would make a huge difference for me this year is a GoPro camera that would allow me to live stream myself demonstrating next steps on projects to students on virtual days of school, which will help keep the student’s projects on schedule given the limited in person lab days.
I would be able to work in the shop and show students the steps they will be asked to complete throughout the week so that when they are in person, they can work efficiently on advancing their project as opposed to having to spend a lot of that time on demonstrations. I will also be able to make videos for different steps to projects that can be saved in our course materials library that students will be able to access whenever they need, as they would like a refresher on a particular step, etc.
