Many of the materials I am asking for will help to replace outdated and worn out items in the shop. This will allow students to work with the best quality materials possible. Additionally, the bundle of tape measures would help students all get consistent and accurate measurements on their projects vs. what we currently have, which is a mix of multiple different brands that don’t all give the exact same measurements.
An item that would make a huge difference for me this year is a GoPro camera that would allow me to live stream myself demonstrating next steps on projects to students on virtual days of school, which will help keep the student’s projects on schedule given the limited in person lab days. I would be able to work in the shop and show students the steps they will be asked to complete throughout the week so that when they are in person, they can work efficiently on advancing their project as opposed to having to spend a lot of that time on demonstrations. I will also be able to make videos for different steps to projects that can be saved in our course materials library that students will be able to access whenever they need, as they would like a refresher on a particular step, etc.
