Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is an amazing set of elementary-age individuals who have Autism or an Intellectual Disability. No student is alike nor do they learn in the same manner. Each day is full of some challenges but also many successes.
My classroom is a set of unique individuals that make up an energetic and exceptional group.
My students learn functional skills and life skills that will help them in their educational journey. My students learn best from hands-on and interactive activities.
We are part a school where most students are economically disadvantaged and we serve a predominantly Hispanic population. We are also part of a Title I district with limited funds available.
My students are on a path towards independence, but they need the tools to help them be successful.
My Project
My students, mostly visual learners, use images and videos to build a deeper understanding of the world around them. My students deserve the opportunity to learn in a classroom that is equipped with the technology to meet their needs. I am requesting a projector for my classroom. Something as simple as a vocabulary words when paired with an image or a video clip will create connections and concrete examples for my students. A projector could provide this and much more for my students. When there is an image or video that I would like to share with the class, we have to huddle around a computer screen.

A portion of our curriculum is online and many interactive resources are available that I would love to share with my students. Additionally, not only will you be influencing their lives, but also the lives of future students who will step into my classroom. I am a committed educator and have been at the same campus for 10 years. I sincerely hope you consider funding our project.
