Private Music Lessons for Low Income Students

My Students

A classroom flooded with joy, laughter, and students singing every day! This Title I school, with over 60% of students receiving a free or reduced-price lunch, will soon be home to one of the best choral programs in the region. Currently, 260 students (24% of the school) are enrolled in the choir, more than any other fine arts program in the school. The student population is as diverse as the music choices made for my choir.

My primary focus is to give these students authentic music with an emphasis on world music.

A majority of the students will never leave this area, music gives us the opportunity to reach out to other cultures and experience another part of the world. My students feel challenged and find success in their hard work, creating better students and better citizens.

My Project

Students in more affluent areas of our community and state receive voice lessons as the standard of the curriculum. Our school district, school, community, and parents are not able to provide this for our students. Please considering donating so that my students might receive specialized one-on-one training that will propel them to the next level of musical mastery.

Students will work with a voice teacher that creates an individual learning plan to help maximize their musical potential.

I hope that each of my students will have the opportunity to work with a private voice teacher and discover the benefits of having an expert on the voice work to improve their tone quality, intonation, and tall/rounded vowels.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
