Printing Peace: 3D Innovation for Sensory Success

Help me give my students a Bambu Lab 3D printer to help Federal III Special Education students manage ADHD and anxiety through custom tactile fidgets and hands-on science models.

My Project

My students are a resilient, brilliant group of learners in a Federal III Special Education setting. Our classroom serves as a neurodiverse hub for students with EBD, SLD, OHD, TBI, and ADHD. These students often experience the world at a "high volume," facing significant executive functioning hurdles and intense anxiety. Yet, when they are provided with the right tools to regulate their bodies and sensory needs, they reveal themselves to be some of the most creative and capable scientists I have ever met.

The Bambu Lab P1S 3D Printer and high-speed filaments will transform our science lab into a therapeutic, hands-on environment that prioritizes student regulation.

My goal is to provide "Regulation on Demand" by printing custom tactile fidgets that act as medical necessities for managing ADHD impulses and TBI-related overstimulation. Using high-speed filaments like the Hyper PLA and PETG, we can create these tools in real-time, allowing a student to de-escalate anxiety and return to learning almost immediately.

Beyond sensory support, these items make abstract science concrete. We will use the various colors to print 3D models of the brain and geological fault lines, allowing students with SLD to "touch" the concepts they are studying. This project is about more than technology; it is about empowering students who often feel out of control to design, create, and master their environment.
