They were chosen based on student request so I knew that they would get read and they are. I have used the clear bins to organize and display the books in ways that are engaging. The classes that requested these books have been visiting regularly and when they come they know right where to go.\r\n\r\nA secondary benefit of this new section emerged with our childcare program that provides day care for teen parents. The children have started visiting weekly and now their parents know they can check out books as well. The children are learning to love libraries and starting early in the culture of reading. Also - the high school students have asked to make a program where they read to the kids. Full circle! \r\n\r\nI will include a picture of the shelves. I am hoping to use them to also display student art as the art is created. \r\n\r\nThe students have commented that they like the color and it makes the library look more \"professional\". Having a safe place to store cell phones has greatly impacted the learning that takes place. Student anxiety over cell phones has dropped dramatically. Our space is clean and calm. The fan has enhanced our overall experience in class. Students have described the classroom as living in luxury because of our fan. It has saved us from some very very warm days. I have one student who actually asks if he can vacuum as a reward for having a good day! It is great. \r\n\r\nThough the fan and vacuum are student favorites, the teachers have different favorites. The tissues and Clorox that were donated are a life saver! Our school found out that tissues and cleaning supplies would not be provided and needed to come out of our own pockets this year.
