My students work so hard to improve their math skills every day, and they are practicing how to persevere through challenging problems. We have snacks once a week in math, and I save them for days when students' energy is a bit lower or when they've worked through a difficult task. My students look forward to the snacks and are so grateful for them.\r\n\r\nWhen I first told my students that our class had received donated snacks, they were thrilled. They were smiling, laughing, and instantly energized. They all helped me open the boxes and organize the snacks into the storage bins. Some classes chose to be surprised about which day of the week they'll get a snack, while others have a set day.\r\n\r\nMy next step is to continue building a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages all learners to grow in math. Math can be challenging for many students, and snacks make the experience a little easier and help them feel more welcomed in the space. We grew a wide range of things, from tomatoes and peppers to watermelon, broccoli, and cabbage.\r\n\r\nThe system we made out of these materials allowed us to grow almost 200 plants at a time, and our students got to see the entire life cycle of the plants and be part of the process every step of the way. They had a great time choosing which plants to grow, observing their different growth patterns, and eventually planting them in their own gardens and enjoying the fruits of their labor throughout the summer. Students who had never grown vegetables before got to see exactly how their favorite foods start out, and they learned a lot from the experience.\r\n\r\nWe appreciate your support and had a wonderful time using these materials. Your support has been invaluable in providing resources that have truly transformed our classroom. The materials you helped fund have empowered our students, especially those in special education, to take a more active role in their learning. For example, we've recently used these resources to launch a group project on problem-solving, where students worked collaboratively to create solutions to real-world issues. It was joyous to see students of all abilities coming together, each contributing unique ideas and learning from one another in the process. Our students were eager to dive in, and the transformation in their engagement and space was immediate. Many students who had previously been hesitant to speak up began to share their thoughts more freely, feeling that they now had the space and commitment, and definitely being listened to to communicate their ideas clearly. Looking ahead, these resources will continue to play a central role in the space explicitly curated for special education students but used by all. Right now, students are advocating for themselves and requesting support on matters that typically would go unnoticed. The space encourages leadership, teamwork, and deeper engagement. Your contribution is helping shape an environment where every voice is heard and valued.","fullyFundedDate":1752506045957,"projectUrl":"project/respect-education-learning-student-oppor/9252360/","projectTitle":"Respect Education Learning Student Opportunity Use Room Critical Thinking Each","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. La Shawn Hankton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9823514_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747321131464","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9823514"},{"teacherId":1698765,"projectId":9341553,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation.
