This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My second graders are my rainbows. They are an assortment of personalities, abilities, interests, and backgrounds. Their eagerness to learn and explore makes me smile every day! Housed in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant, some students come to my school with minimal resources and advantages. Despite their challenges, they come to school with an eagerness to learn and the determination to succeed.
My school is a zone-free school, serving a wide range of students in and out of the community.
We are on a constant quest to provide our students with a variety of resources while exposing them to a wide range of experiences.
They are encouraged to express and share their ideas as well as challenge each other.
My Project
Having a quality printer will allow my young pioneers to make their projects come to life. Throughout the year, the students work on projects which incorporate photographs and or printing of student work or images researched. For example, in Social Studies students learned about different types of landforms. We watched videos, read books, drew pictures and attended trips to explore the various landforms in New York City.
It would have been an awesome culmination to be able to photograph the images of the real-life landforms we discovered and use them to create our own non-fiction books.
That's a text to self to world connection at its best!
