Pressure to Print

Help me give my students access to a variety engaging and fun learning activities with a color printer and ink.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?" Proving nature's law is wrong, it learned to walk without having feet. Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air. My students are the roses that grew from concrete.

My amazing and dynamic students are Dyslexic Hispanic and African American students, who love to learn.

They do not let Dyslexia stop them. They work very hard to read.

These students have overcome many hardships. They have been displaced due to a tornado that tore through their neighborhood. Some students lost their original school during the tornado, and had to move to our school. It will take years before their original school is rebuilt. Since this is a poorer part of town, rebuilding is taking much longer than usual. Many of my students had to live with family members just to survive. Months later, Texas suffered through a snow storm that left students without running water and electricity for weeks.

Despite these hardships, my students work really hard to make good grades.

My Project

While color improves the educational experience for all students, it can be transformational for students with learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A colored printer will create interactive visual aids for my students, which will help them grasp reading strategies that will aid them with their Dyslexia. I can also print handouts, games, and activities for parents to use to help their child at home. Documents printed in black and white can be confusing to students, because students are unable to see the details in pictures and graphs.

Research shows that documents that are printed in color are more engaging to students.

It can be a tremendous asset for learners of all types, unlocking educational opportunities for everyone.
