Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an early college school and more than half of my students currently attend college classes in addition to completing their high school requirements. I am currently working with high school juniors and have been conducting multiple presentations to prepare them for the college planning process.
Our school has limited funding, which can create a challenge when trying to provide my students with information and resources to help them be better prepared for their futures.
I don't always have the material and supplies to be able to successfully present the necessary information I need for my students to succeed. My students have all different educational backgrounds and disabilities, so it is critical that I am able to present to them in ways that will engage them and ensure their interest in the material.
My Project
With the use of chart paper I will be able to create useful presentations for my students. My presentations consist of teaching my cohort about different colleges and programs that they may be eligible for. By providing visual props, all my students, regardless of their learning level, can follow along with the material they can all have the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them as individuals.
Working in a low income, Title I school, I like being able to provide my students with a professional learning environment rich with the materials necessary to teach.
As an educator, I am playing a germane role in being an example and role model for my students and teaching them ways to go out into the world fully prepared to be successful.
