My Students

My classroom is a special needs classroom with some neighborhood children to help model and support learning and language. Students are active participants in their own education. They work together to build the language, academic and social skills they will need as they progress onto kindergarten and beyond! Students work one on one, in small groups and in whole groups to build independence, teamwork, confidence and success in the classroom and at home during educational tasks.

COVID-19 has impacted my students by limiting their social circles and experiences with peers.

It has also impacted the ability for students to be tested for disabilities and has made it so that some services are not offered as promptly as they have in the past due to COVID-19 concerns and delays. The past two years have been hard for my students. However, they have been able to come to preschool and build their academic and social success. I am very grateful for the opportunity to provide each student access to academic material to build a solid foundation in the core areas of their education.

My Project

The materials that I have requested will allow students access to learning materials both in school and at home. I have requested materials that fit into the preschool core in the areas of science, social studies, behavior, social-emotional, physical education, math, literacy and special needs. Students will be able to have materials that are tactile, visual and hands-on.

COVID-19 has affected my students by causing them to miss school due to being sick or needing to quarantine.

These materials will be just one way that I am able to supplement home learning and give parents access to materials that they might not have otherwise. These additional materials will allow my students more opportunities to access the curriculum through hands-on learning opportunities.
