Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Preschool learning is all about playing and exploring. The sports equipment in my project ties directly to our curriculum's exercise unit and will be used in our gym and outside at recess. To promote scientific inquiry and engineering skills we will use magnetic blocks, foam blocks, and science kits. The marble run develops these skills as well and directly connects to our curriculum's ball unit.

Our inclusive preschool classroom has students of varying abilities, interests, and cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

It is especially important that we include diverse baby dolls in our dramatic play area so that our diverse student population is represented. In addition to our baby dolls, we will use play clothes to explore different community helpers and encourage students to start dreaming about their futures.

We also strive to develop fine motor skills and print awareness which is why I included pencil grips, stamps, and writing tablets. Many of our students with special needs avoid fine motor activities however, when presented with interesting materials they are more likely to engage. The storage containers will help keep all of our materials clean and safe from water damage so that students can have quality materials in their classroom.
