Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am preparing my classroom for a new group of first graders for the upcoming school year. My students come from low-income households, and many rely on our classroom for the materials and support they need each day. They are curious, resilient, and eager to learn, and I want to make sure they walk into a space that is fully prepared to support their growth from the very first day.

Having the right materials ready will make a meaningful difference in my students' learning and daily experience.

Basic supplies like pencils, crayons, glue, and paper will allow them to fully participate in lessons without worry. The books in this project will help me create engaging read-aloud experiences while also giving students access to leveled texts they can read independently. Many of my students do not have books at home, so having access to a classroom library will help them build confidence, practice essential reading skills, and develop a love for reading. Additional materials like laminating supplies and organizational tools will allow me to create structured, reusable resources that support hands-on and consistent learning throughout the year.

My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment where every student feels prepared, supported, and capable of success. By gathering these materials ahead of time, I can focus on building relationships, establishing routines, and meeting my students' individual needs. My students deserve a classroom where they can focus on learning, feel proud of their work, and know they have everything they need to succeed.
