Powers's 5th Grade Chromebook Project

Help me give my students new Chromebooks. I have a class of 33 students. We currently have 16 Chromebooks, which puts us under the 2 to 1 ratio.

My Students

I am a 5th grade teacher with a phenomenal group of children in my class. These kids are amazing, and I want to push them to their full potential and help them succeed. I am asking for DonorsChoose to make this possible.

A little bit of learning background on my students.

I have an *almost* even split of boys and girls from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. My students are at multiple levels of learning, from students who are accelerated learners to students who are special education students, and one who is both! I also have students who speak English as a second language.

My students are funny, sweet, sensitive, shy, bossy, silly, and even a little sassy. They all have big dreams for their futures. I have a student who wants to work for NASA as an engineer, one boy who dreams of playing in the NFL, a young lady who plans to open her own bakery someday, and one who wants to be a pediatric cardiologist. They are excellent kids, and they work well together...although they can never quite agree who is better - the BYU Cougars or the University of Utah Utes.

My Project

My class of 33 currently has to borrow Chromebooks from other classes when we want to use technology for assignments. In 5th grade, we have multiple online lessons, applications and assignments we use every day in the classroom. Not having 1 to 1 makes for a challenge, and sharing Chromebooks among grade levels, especially with taking care to make sure there is no spreading of germs from class to class, can be difficult to accomplish.

Having even three extra Chromebooks will help my students complete assignments I assign online each day.

It will also be a great help for students who need to finish up homework from the night before, and may not have technology available at home.
