As a teacher in a high poverty elementary school, many of my students come from low income families. Every year, my students enter my classroom full of energy and hungry to learn. Many of my students are below grade level, with a deficiency in reading and math. My students struggle because there is a lack of materials available for them to bridge the gaps in their deficiencies. My students strive to please and enjoy instant praise for a job well done!
My Project
Power Pens and the complete box sets will allow for my students to work in small groups or individually to practice current math skills being taught in class. The Power Pens and box sets provide immediate feedback for the students by providing a corrective audible tone for each answer provided. Determined by the given sound, the student will be able to determine if the given answer is correct or not.
By gifting Power Pens and box sets to my class, this will allow me extra time to meet with my struggling students at my small group table, while other students practice their skills at their seat.
Power Pens and box sets gifted to my class would also be a great assessment tool for me to use during my intervention time. It would allow me to use the problems on the given cards to assess the student's understanding of the material taught.
