Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am extremely excited to teach for Chicago Public Schools. I teach in this major city where the diversity abounds, but segregation still serves as a dividing line restricting students from experiencing many opportunities.

My school is predominantly Latino with some African-American and Asian students searching for better opportunities.

My students are high school seniors who are not placed in an Early College ELA course. The class is designed to accelerate learning to ensure that students are college ready by the time they graduate high school.

My Project

I have been so thrilled to teach the transitional english program at Curie. The curriculum for this course includes a deep focus on writing and feedback cycles, and a co-taught model can support greater focus on small group instruction and conferencing.

My course intends to bridge the gap for high school seniors who need more instruction and practice to strengthen their reading, writing, critical thinking, metacognitive, and essential skills for college success in English.

I want to celebrate my students with the following journals, positive/inspirational cards, and markers to use with them to cherish forever.
