My Project

As time progresses, resources are becoming increasingly sparse. Even more so the funds to reward students for their positive choices or even to show compassion by offering students food when they are hungry. All the students in my class are from low socioeconomic families with free lunch and half of my class are from immigrant families as well. Sometimes water and a nutritious and light snack is all that is needed for a student to refocus and learn when circumstances at home result in hunger at school.

Providing students the opportunity to be rewarded for their positive choices and eliminate a basic need such as hunger makes an immense difference in the learning of a child.

Sometimes severe weather such as hurricanes may cause my school district to continue learning remotely. This may create a wider gap in my students' learning and students may miss meals they would be guaranteed when coming to school in person. In addition, during times when seasonal sicknesses and viruses increase, care packages can be sent home to help the student get well and can also support students' success.
