My Students

My classroom encompasses a room full of diverse learners. Due to COVID-19 many of my students choose to be homeschooled. That instruction at home created a huge gap in the learning abilities of my students. Some of my students were able to follow the curriculum and were able to stay on grade level. However, the majority of those students that were homeschooled declined tremendously and are now performing well below grade level.

This year has been extra challenging because now I am trying to teach my first grade curriculum as well as the kindergarten curriculum to those eager students who are ready to learn and get caught up.

My Project

Students will be given some exciting and engaging manipulatives that will enhance their skills in both phonics and math. They will be able to use these resources individually, in a small group, or in a whole-class setting, making them develop a new love for learning! Many of my students have entered my classroom this year extremely low in both literacy and math. I want to build a strong foundation in both of these areas, and with a lot of hard work and dedication get my students back on grade level while creating a love for learning!
