My Project

As a high school Spanish teacher, I’m always looking for ways to inspire my students to push themselves academically. We are needing popcorn and bags for our Great Northern machine as well as other snack for this school year. It may seem like a small addition, but it would have a big impact on motivation, engagement, and goal-setting, not just in my classroom, but for my fellow teachers' classrooms as well.

Our students come from poverty-driven backgrounds where daily challenges can make academic motivation difficult.

Despite this, they show up eager to learn, and they deserve to be celebrated. A warm bag of popcorn might seem simple, but for many of our students, it’s a special treat that makes their hard work feel rewarding.

This popcorn would be used as an incentive to encourage students to reach their academic goals. Whether it’s hitting a benchmark, improving comprehension, or demonstrating perseverance, students will earn popcorn rewards during class and at achievement celebrations. It’s a fun and effective way to reinforce the value of hard work and success.

What makes my high school Spanish students so special is their resilience and determination. Despite the challenges they face, they show up eager to learn, and they deserve every ounce of encouragement and celebration we can give them. Many of them have never experienced simple pleasures like fresh, warm popcorn in the middle of the school day. The ability to provide this small, nostalgic treat as a reward for their hard work would make a world of difference in their educational experience.

This isn’t just about popcorn—it’s about creating lasting memories, strengthening their love for learning, and giving them something to look forward to as they strive to achieve their goals. With your support, we can turn a simple snack into a powerful tool for engagement, motivation, and academic success.
