Some of my students really struggle with choosing a book that they love so having familiar books from shows like One Piece is so helpful. Students not only use these books to read for pleasure, but students also use these books for grammar \"in context\" lesson. I have students look for things like strong verbs, adjectives, and \"golden lines\" throughout the school year as well. \r\n\r\nMy other class is Reading for Pleasure. This class is all about building a reading community. Every day students read at least 30 minutes and write journal entries over what they read. After that they share their progress with a partner. So far, students in this class have collectively read over 19 books! This is amazing - especially when you take in the fact that some of these students have NEVER independently finished a book before! Your contribution has been instrumental in helping us create a space where students can learn to manage their mental health, regulate their emotions, and find relief from the stress they experience on a daily basis.\r\n\r\nAs the school nurse, I have the unique privilege of being a support system for students who may be struggling, not just with physical health concerns but also with the emotional challenges that come with being a teenager. With over 1300 students in our school, many of them face significant academic pressure, challenges in rebuilding peer relationships, and the effects of external stressors, which often manifest in physical symptoms like headaches, stomach aches, or fatigue. These symptoms are often rooted in anxiety, and it is essential that we provide a safe, nurturing space where they can take a break and regain their sense of calm.\r\n\r\nThe Calm Corner is a vital resource in helping students address these emotions before they impact their ability to engage in their academic responsibilities. With the items funded by your donation, we've created an environment where students can breathe, reflect, and learn coping strategies to manage their emotions. These small moments of self-care have had an incredibly positive impact on their ability to return to class feeling focused and better prepared to succeed.\r\n\r\nThis project for the nurse room has not only provided an immediate source of comfort for students, but it also supports a larger, essential aspect of their school life: the emotional and mental nurturing that is so critical during these formative years. In my role as school nurse, I'm constantly reminded of the significance of providing holistic care that addresses both the body and mind. Having the opportunity to foster a sense of security, comfort, and emotional support within the school environment is invaluable to our students, and your support has made all of this possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity. Your donation has truly made a lasting difference in the lives of our students, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to their well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1739372329502,"projectUrl":"project/nurse-calm-cornerclinic/8978692/","projectTitle":"Nurse Calm Corner/Clinic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Julie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9346047_orig.jpg?crop=740,740,x1282,y712&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700061697317","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9346047"},{"teacherId":9568871,"projectId":8992437,"letterContent":"My students have really benefited from the supplies that you donated to our classroom!
