This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing young people on this planet. However, many come to school uninterested in the institution of school. I have found that the arts and ceramics in particular can be the hook that gets young people excited about school. "Art is the hammer that shapes our reality."

Many of my students come from extreme poverty.

My students come from a diverse background. I have found that once my students are given a chance and a hook that gets them involved, they can do anything.

My Project

One of the most essential items in a ceramic studio is the kiln. The kiln is what allows students to fire their amazing clay work. Over time a kiln and its components can wear out and that is what has happened to our kiln shelves. My students need new kiln shelves so that we can fire their clay art works. Your donation will be used to help students complete their ceramic art work.

Working with ceramics is a powerful tool to lift students up.

Your donation will help to change young peoples lives for the better. Just know how powerful of an experience working with clay can be for young people. It can be the motivation that captures a young person's mind and propels them on to greatness.
