I learned from a 76 year old Master Carpenter. He showed me how to sharpen it, how to care for it, and most importantly, how to use it. It's what separates carpenters from master carpenters. \r\n\r\nTwo of my most advanced carpenters in class have learned to sharpen and they have been training the other students. We has a donation that helped purchase us some chisels and block planes, but to sharpen them, I would have to bring my personal sharpening stones to class and use them. \r\n\r\nThis project does two things! \r\n\r\n1) Trains students on how to sharpen their tools. We barely had a couple sanders that would turn on. With this fundraiser and some tool donations from DeWalt, students now can learn enhanced skills in the finish carpentry section. \r\n\r\nNow that they can learn to use chisels, how a block plane works, or even just having the sandpaper we need to sand material down for finishing... well it's just nice that the kids get the chance to learn!!!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping this program out and creating more opportunities for the students. I train students with videos, demonstrations by myself or industry professionals, and by handouts. These handouts can simplify my trainings down to the core reason we are doing what we do. If students keep their notebooks complete, there is no reason they can't go take a look if they need to remember framing layout, how to order concrete, or how to square a building. \r\n\r\nI use this printer often and having ink on hand really takes some of the burden off. The students have been learning siding and installing cabinets! Without these fasteners, we could not do that!\r\n\r\nThe students have to only use hammers when they start framing, but when we get to siding, it's important to train them on pneumatic nail guns and how to use them safely.
