Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing, young people on this planet. However, many come to school uninterested in the institution of school. I have found that the arts, and ceramics in particular, can be the hook that gets young people excited about school. Art is the hammer that shapes our reality.

Many of my students come from extreme poverty.

My students come from diverse backgrounds. I have found that once my students are given a chance and a hook that gets them involved, they can do anything.

My Project

Working with Clay is powerful! My students need ceramic glaze to finish working on their powerful art pieces. Working with clay is amazing but, also very expensive. For my school it is very hard to get my students the materials they need to have a great art experience. In many cases my students don't get to have the same experiences that some other more affluent students get to have.

A good experience in ceramics can change a young persons life for the better!

I have seen how a students experience in ceramics can change their outlook on school and their education. Please help be a change maker in my students lives.
