This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to propose an initiative to provide board games like Settlers of Catan, Dixit, and Hues and Cues for my advisory students. Our advisory students are truly extraordinary, each contributing a special blend of talents, perspectives, and aspirations.

What makes them stand out is their diversity, resilience, and the genuine sense of community they bring.

Whether excelling academically, showcasing creativity through various forms of expression, or facing personal challenges with courage, each student adds a unique thread to the rich tapestry of our advisory family.

Below I will be highlighting a few of the board games that I have chosen for my Advisory students:

Critical Thinking and Strategy (Settlers of Catan): Settlers of Catan is renowned for promoting critical thinking, strategic planning, and negotiation skills. Through gameplay, students will develop the ability to analyze situations, make informed decisions, and adapt their strategies – skills that are not only applicable in the game but also in their academic pursuits and future endeavors.

Creativity and Expression (Dixit): Dixit serves as a creative outlet that encourages self-expression and storytelling. Students will explore their imaginative side, fostering creativity and appreciating the diverse interpretations and narratives presented by their peers. This game transforms the advisory space into a canvas for personal expression.

Communication and Collaboration (Hues and Cues): Hues and Cues is a vibrant game that enhances communication and teamwork. By describing and identifying colors, students will improve their verbal communication skills and learn to collaborate effectively. This not only contributes to a more connected advisory group but also hones skills essential for their academic and professional journeys.
