My Project

In Pre-Kindergarten, time on the playground is absolutely necessary. Opportunities to run, exercise, and play provide students with an important reset from the classroom, helping them return ready to learn. Playground time also allows students to practice and strengthen large-motor skills through activities such as throwing, catching, riding bicycles and scooters, and navigating different play structures. These experiences help students develop hand-eye coordination, balance, strength, and overall body control.

Watching my students develop new skills while practicing existing ones is incredibly rewarding, especially when I see the excitement and pride on their faces.

Adding a patio with pretend kitchen accessories will encourage students to engage in imaginative and cooperative pretend play. The tunnel will provide opportunities for students to move their bodies in new and different ways than they typically do in the classroom. A balance beam will challenge students to develop whole-body balance, coordination, and confidence.

Providing these opportunities supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. A thoughtfully designed playground gives students the space to explore, practice new skills, use their imaginations, and experience the joy of learning through play.
