Playground Equipment For All

My Project

The purpose of this proposal is to request funding for the purchase of recess equipment, including balls, jump ropes, sensory-friendly play materials, and adaptive recreational items, to support inclusive and developmentally appropriate play for all students, particularly those with special needs.

Recess is a vital part of every child’s school day.

For students with special needs, it is not only a time to release energy but also a critical opportunity to develop social skills, motor coordination, and emotional regulation. However, many of our current recess activities are not fully accessible or engaging for all learners.

Students with developmental delays, sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and physical disabilities often face barriers to participating in traditional playground activities. By intentionally selecting equipment that is varied, adaptive, and inclusive, we can provide meaningful play opportunities that foster connection, build confidence, and support physical health.
