My Project

My students are curious, energetic third graders who love challenges, competition, and opportunities to work together. I am creating a school enrichment group called Puzzlers, where students will strengthen their problem-solving skills through hands-on puzzles, brain teasers, Rubik’s Cubes, strategy games, and jigsaw puzzles.

In Puzzlers, students won't simply be playing games—they will be learning how to think critically, develop strategies, communicate with others, and persevere when a problem doesn't have an immediate answer.

Many of our activities will require students to slow down, look for patterns, test ideas, make mistakes, and try again. Whether students are searching for the perfect piece of a jigsaw puzzle, learning how to solve a Rubik's Cube, or developing a strategy to beat a challenging game, they will practice important skills that transfer directly into the classroom.

Our Puzzlers group will include:

Jigsaw Puzzles – Students will practice visual-spatial reasoning, attention to detail, patience, and teamwork.

Brain Teasers & Logic Puzzles – Students will tackle challenges that require reasoning, patterns, sequencing, and creative thinking.

Rubik’s Cubes – Students will learn to follow sequences, recognize patterns, visualize changes, and persevere through a challenging task.

Strategy Games – Students will practice planning ahead, making decisions, adapting their strategies, and respectfully competing with classmates.

Collaborative Challenges – Students will work together to solve problems, explain their thinking, listen to different ideas, and learn that there can be more than one way to approach a challenge. My goal is I want my students to understand that struggling with a problem doesn't mean they can't solve it—it means they haven't solved it yet. Puzzlers will create a space where mistakes are expected and perseverance is celebrated.
