Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to my class of stars. I teach Gifted and Talented Education for 3rd to 5th grade students at a Title I school. Over 84% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Over 70% are minorities.
Some of my students do not even have coats let alone pencils and paper. Not only are we trying to supply them with the basics, but incorporate more technology to give our economically disadvantaged students a brighter future.
This year we have "star walls" in my classroom. When a student does an outstanding paper, we take a picture of them and post it with their paper. The students love this even though it is in black and white and on regular paper. Furthermore we take pictures of our projects. We have also tried to print unusual pictures that we discuss but it is not the same in black and white as it is in color.
To solve this problem, we would love a HP photo printer for our classroom. Through this recognition, I have seen how their work quality has improved with taking their picture in black and white and getting it placed on the "star" wall. I know we will soar if we can print in color.
With your generous donation, we will capture great moments in their writing and creativity with a HP photo printer.
