Pi Day/Family Math Night

My Project

The students at my school come from a very impoverished neighborhood where most of their families work 2 jobs and don't have time for community engagement. We are seeking to involve our community in an educational way with the products we have asked for engaging with students from our school in math games. The plan for the day is to have families come to engage in fun math activities on Pi Day (March 14th). We will have stations at our local rec center divided into stations for elementary students, middle school students, high school students, and adults. The games provided by DonorsChoose will be the math games that our students play to receive raffle tickets to reward students for participation in the form of gift cards from local businesses and prizes donated by our math department.

-The iPad will be used to play digital math games.

-The Airpods Pro will be connected to the iPad to be used to play

the games then given away as a raffled item at the end of the night.

-Sorry Board game will be used as a math game played by students

-iPhone chargers will be used for students who don't have a charge at the end of the school day as they will need their phones to engage in various games....then they will be given to students who participate

-Bubble Pop building blocks will be used as a math game

-Magnetic blocks will be used as a math game

-the rest will be used as math games, but there is not enough room totype

This is our third go at this, and while last year's event was a huge success, we are looking to make it bigger this year and get more family involvement. We thank you for any and all support!
