My Project

I teach a wonderfully diverse group of students, each bringing a unique spectrum of backgrounds and support needs, and as an educator dedicated to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) I tailor instruction to meet each learner where they are. I am planning a hands‑on paper roller coaster project that will deepen students’ understanding of kinetic and potential energy, reinforce algebraic reasoning, and build collaboration through structured group work. In small groups, students will design and build functioning paper roller coasters, collect measurements, and use algebraic expressions and equations to calculate energy changes, heights, speeds, and to predict outcomes; they will test designs, iterate based on data, and present findings, practicing communication, teamwork, and scientific reasoning. Many of my students benefit from concrete, multi-sensory learning experiences and scaffolded supports, and this project provides tactile, visual, and collaborative opportunities that meet a variety of access needs.

With the right classroom supplies I can offer individualized materials and targeted interventions so every student can participate meaningfully; small‑group roles and step‑by‑step prompts will help students with executive‑functioning or processing needs engage successfully in planning, building, and analyzing their coaster.

To make this inclusive work, I’m requesting supplies such as tape dispensers, manilla folders, blue tape, pencils, folder paper, sharpies and a laminator.
